In a crucial clash against the Mumbai Indians, the Delhi Capitals suffered a late collapse to bundle out for 172 in their allotted 20 overs. After being invited to bat first by the Mumbai Indians, Delhi got off to a steady start before losing wickets at regular intervals. However, they were rescued by Axar Patel's blistering knock of 54 runs off just 25 balls.
With Delhi's score at 98/5, Axar walked in and immediately took the attack to the Mumbai bowlers. He struck a flurry of boundaries and sixes to help Delhi post a competitive total on the board. Unfortunately for Delhi, the rest of their batting line-up failed to contribute much, and they lost their final five wickets in just 10 balls.
Jason Behrendorff was the chief architect of Delhi's late collapse, picking up three wickets in the 20th over. Axar was the first to go, caught at fine-leg while attempting another big shot. David Warner followed soon after, edging a leg-cutter to the keeper. Kuldeep Yadav was run out in the same over, while Abhishek Porel was caught in the deep on the final ball.
The collapse would have left Delhi reeling, and they will need to come up with a solid bowling performance to defend their total. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians will be confident of chasing down the target with their strong batting line-up. It promises to be an exciting contest between two of the IPL's top teams.
